It all starts with generating a single island as a memorial for a departed loved one. You can then enrich this island by adding stories, photos, and videos, bringing their legacy to life. Customize the island with plants, statues, and other ornamentation to create a truly unique tribute. As you expand your family tree by inputting the details of your ancestors, more islands emerge and connect, allowing you to explore the lives of those who came before you. Over time, your family tree interconnects with those of others, and a great continent full of historical figures and connections.

Procedural Lanscape Generation

Our algorithm uses the date of birth and death of the departed to determine the landscape's features, such as distance from the shoreline (the world of the living) and local terrain height. This approach ensures a deeply personalized experience, as each individual's life story shapes their final resting place. Furthermore, we establish geographical connections between family members by placing their memorial cells in proximity to one another, creating a visually stunning and interconnected family tree. This innovative system not only allows for a sense of exploration but also fosters a deeper understanding of one's own lineage and personal history.

Because we are essentially portraying a multi-dimensional family tree in two dimensions, choices need to be made about which cells are proximate. By default we maintain a geographical connection on the maternal lineage (Motherland) but we terrain can also be viewed along the Paternal bloodline (Fatherland) or ordered to prioritize life-partners and spouses (Partnerland).
